Yes, my Breda has been fully painted. Take a look:
Yes, the aluminum is painted, the brown parts are brown, and the windows look like windows. Score! I still wonder if the window frames are too thick to be Breda window frames and bordering on CAF window frames, but we’re going for Breda, and I did my best. The rest of it is going to look like Breda – specifically the 3000-Series, and I’m even going to have a sign saying, “Made in Italy by Breda Costruzioni Ferroviarie S.p.A.” on my shoulder, complete with Breda horse.
Meanwhile, all I have left to do now is add the head sign, the headlights, the taillights, the roof-line lights, and the door sign, plus some bracing that you won’t be able to see. And when completed, it will look something like this:
Looks like WMATA if you ask me. And I’m going to wear an orange shirt to indicate the interiors. We’ve been encouraged to wear our costumes all day, so when it’s impractical to wear the train, I have my WMATA vest that will do just fine.
Meanwhile, in a twist of irony for a costume based on public transportation, I’m not going to risk damaging it by actually taking it on public transportation, though I think people might get a kick out of it, seeing a Metro costume… on the Metro. I’m driving it down to work over the weekend and dropping it off ahead of halloween.
