Certainly you’re familiar with the Sable:
Well, it is now officially time to do the victory dance. My 2004 Mercury Sable is paid for! It now belongs 100% to me! No more auto loan payments. And you know, it’s a really good feeling knowing that you’ve finished your payments and now own it outright. Because let me tell you… that car loan stressed me out. Seriously, that stressed me out. After all, you screw that up, and there goes your wheels. And despite my proximity to a Metro station, I live in the ‘burbs, and where I live, you really do need wheels. Plus, when I worked at Wal-Mart, I would go past the lot where Dupont Credit Union (the financial institution that held the loan on the car) tried to sell the cars that they had foreclosed on. Going past that every day from when I got the car to when I left Wal-Mart was some major inspiration to keep current on the car payment, because I didn’t want to see my car in that lot with a “for sale” sign on it.
So with the car completely paid for, and eight months early for that matter, it feels like a major weight has been taken off my shoulders. More money for me, and no more car payment. Now I just have to close my account with Dupont Credit Union, because while they were great to me, I now live well outside their service area (they’re based in Waynesboro), and so it seems kind of pointless to keep it around. But I’ll certainly recommend them to others.
So, yeah, I’m in a goooooooooood mood today…
