Sunrise at Virginia Beach
One of the things about visiting the beach on the East Coast is watching the sun come up. My friend Andrea and I had planned to watch the sunrise in the morning on our two-day Virginia Beach trip. While Andrea ultimately decided to sleep a little longer, I took the opportunity to view the sunrise myself. It was quite an experience, this being my first time seeing the sun come up over the ocean…
And first, there was dark…
…as the lights of the concrete boardwalk shine bright.
Ah, there we go! Now we’ve got some light!
And a little more…
And as “we greet the sun when night is done”, people smooth the sand of the beach for the day.
And the waves crash against the beach.
And two people watch from the lifeguard’s chair…
The sun’s trying to poke up above the slight cloud cover, but it is not quite there yet…
And all the while, the waves do their thing.
And the sand-smoothing guy continues to smooth out the sand.
It’s getting there!
THERE it is! We have sun, ladies and gentlemen!
And so now the waves do their thing with a little pink glow about it.
And of course, my love of ships knows no bounds even while doing the sunrise. I caught a ship doing its thing in the morning…
And even at this early hour, there are people waking their children up to go walking along the beach!
The sun is here! Let us rejoice!
And as the sun gets up, a man plays in the surf.
As the sun shines over the Atlantic Ocean, the keeper of the Titanic, the Andrea Doria, the Lusitania, the Columbus, and more, I get a stunning picture.
And all the while, a couple gets in the water, and prepares to have some fun.
All right! The sun is out! People are starting to come out, and a dump truck is going across the sand…
