Yo ho ho and a bottle of non-alcoholic rum, it’s already 2002. All I have to say is that I can’t believe that 2001 is over. It seemed to go by so quickly. Think about it for a minute. It really did seem to go by pretty fast. The year opened with my meeting my new roommate at the time, quickly passed to Spring Break (a week where I was sick as a dog), quickly segued to summer and moving out, and then work. Work lasted three months and a little change, and then back to JMU again, with my RA-ing. From there, the year slowed down slightly, as we lost the World Trade Center, as well as 5,000 lives. But then soon enough, the semester came to a close, and it was back to Telegate for me. Now as I write this about an hour after the ball dropped, I can’t believe another year is here. Which to me means I’ve got to remember to write 2002, 02, etc. on everything, from reports to paperwork… even the Web site! As I was entering the start date for this quote into my database, I started to enter 2001… but then wait a second, as it was incorrect. Now this time last year, such a mistake would look stupid, but that’s about the extent of the damage. Nowadays, with this quote database in place, a year number could mean dire consequences, since computers, being dumb as anything (actually doing what I say, of all people), take anything I say as gospel. A digit-switch saying 2001 instead of 2002 makes recordkeeping inaccurate. Oh, well… still, let’s hope that 2002 goes better than the last year…
