This is a sign that’s necessary all over the country, and I think everyone must agree. When I went to Virginia Beach on August 7 and 8, these signs were prevalent, an addition from last year, after some group came in and got some changes made, and as a result, got some signs hung. No swearing. If you say something like $%#@ or &$%@, you get ticketed, fined, and/or arrested. This is in order to make the area more family-friendly. Thus “No Swearing” signs are in order. This, however, did not stop me from saying “feces” in an unkind way the entire way across the asphalt parking lot on a hot day in bare feet. The stores in Virginia Beach follow the lead of the no-swearing signs, and have put signs and stickers up with the no-swearing logo. However, before I will buy this whole no-swearing family-friendly thing, there is one thing that has to change. Some of the merchandise has got to go. Some of the shirts and some of the other merchandise are about as family friendly as a Playboy magazine. Big Johnson, language, suggestiveness… not exactly family friendly if you ask me.
