“What exit?”

Turkey in the ovenExit 2, please. Yes, Thanksgiving is right around the corner (or depending on when you read this, already here) once again, and so the Schumin family is going up to New Jersey to see Uncle Bruce (Dad’s brother) and crew. It will be so fun… we’ve been doing this every year since 1995 except last year, when we stayed home, and there’s a photo essay to detail last year’s Thanksgiving escapades. This year, my mother, father, sister, and myself are all piling in the car and taking that nice long drive from Stuarts Draft through the very eastern tip of West Virginia, through the very western tip of Maryland, and then through Pennsylvania, which my sister has nicknamed the “forever state”, because it just keeps on going and going and going, and then when you start to think you’ll never get through the blasted state, you’re crossing into New Jersey. And then finally, we arrive at Uncle Bruce’s house, and immediately sit down somewhere. It’s kind of funny… you spend five or so hours sitting in the car, then you arrive, say hello, and sit back down. I guess it’s just a certain thing about knowing that the seat you are sitting in is not going anywhere any time soon. And then after Thanksgiving dinner and after-dinner socializing, we head to the hotel, and get some much-needed shuteye. Then, since we’re from this area originally, we go out the next day. A little shopping in Potomac Mills’s Philadelphia counterpart, Franklin Mills, meet up with friends, have dinner at Ho Sai Gai in Philadelphia, and then go visit them for a little catching up. And then, on Saturday, it’s back to Stuarts Draft, and then for me, back to Harrisonburg.
